ISSUE 01 | SPRING 2026
Developed around real installation challenges
and real design constraints, the new Pod™
combines faster installation, greater 昀氀exibility,
improved resilience and con昀椀dent compliance in
a single engineered smoke ventilation solution.
Importantly, this evolution builds on the proven
Sertus approach. It is not a new platform or a
change in philosophy – it is the next step in
making mechanical smoke extraction simpler
to specify, easier to install and more dependable
to operate.

Modular by design. Engineered for e昀케ciency.
At the heart of the new Pod™ is a modular, preassembled smoke extract platform designed to
arrive on site installer-ready.
Installation designed for real-world conditions
The Pod™ has been engineered speci昀椀cally to
address practical rooftop installation challenges.
For contractors, this signi昀椀cantly reduces
on-site complexity and shortens programme
time. For speci昀椀ers and consultants, it provides
a consistent and scalable solution that can be
con昀椀gured to suit a wide range of building types
and smoke control strategies.
Adjustable legs allow installation heights from
250–900 mm, with quick-release pins3 and
50 mm connection increments enabling precise
alignment without bespoke steelwork.
From high-rise residential developments to
complex mixed-use schemes, the Pod™ is
designed to integrate seamlessly into the wider
smoke ventilation system.
Thermally broken mounting feet allow earlier
installation within the construction programme
while maintaining thermal performance, and
the re昀椀ned roof geometry4 improves rainwater
management to reduce long-term maintenance
risk.
Smarter controls – simpli昀椀ed architecture
1
The next-generation Pod™ introduces a
redesigned control panel that delivers improved
functionality in a more compact and accessible
format.
By removing the need for a separate PLC,
the system architecture is simpli昀椀ed for both
commissioning and ongoing inspection. Clear
LED indicators1 provide immediate con昀椀rmation
of which fan is operating, enabling faster
diagnostics for installers and maintenance
teams.
Reliability engineered into every detail
Operational resilience has been strengthened
through a re昀椀ned hardware and control
architecture designed to support long-term
performance.

Built for con昀椀dence and compliance
The next-generation Pod™ has been
structurally tested by BRE to 2 tonnes (2000
kg) without failure, with wind load performance
independently veri昀椀ed.
When combined with Sertus system
components such as the Roof Enviro Module
(REM) and Air Inlet Damper, the Pod™ forms
part of a fully certi昀椀ed smoke ventilation
arrangement supporting EN 12101-3 compliant
fan systems.
For consultants and designers, this simpli昀椀es
speci昀椀cation and coordination. For installers, it
reduces interface risk and on-site complexity.
Key improvements include:
y intelligently programmed inverters2
that alternate on every fan start
A smarter way to deliver mechanical smoke
extraction
y balanced fan run hours to extend
component life
y simpli昀椀ed internal architecture with
fewer potential failure points
The next-generation Sertus Roof Mechanical
Pod™ builds on proven performance while
introducing greater resilience, installation
昀氀exibility and simpli昀椀ed system architecture.
The intermediate junction box previously used
in fan wiring has also been removed, further
simplifying installation while improving system
reliability.
From design and speci昀椀cation through to
installation and long-term operation, it provides
a smarter, simpler and more dependable way to
deliver mechanical smoke ventilation.
